Desire does not expire at twenty-nine, however hard the market insists there is a launch date and everything after it is a clearance sale. What happens is that it changes texture: it gets more selective, slower, a good deal clearer about what it does not want.
Reading that change as loss means buying the story that only the new body counts. There are skins at forty-five only now asking out loud for what they could not name at twenty. That is not a second chance: it is the first time.
